Happy 75th Birthday Mr Lim Kit Siang~!
我27岁踏入政坛，首次出征大选。转眼间，这已经是我从政的第8年。我和几个同期出道的同志如潘俭伟、杨巧双常说，我们不知道自己会从事政治工作多久，可是可以肯定的，是不会像林吉祥这样把毕生都奉献给国家。
可不是，老大将在星期六迎接他的75岁大寿，而今年，也同时是他从政50周年！是什么样的毅力和决心，才能让他投入这么多的岁月和精力？
第13届全国大选我转战古来，让很多人都大跌眼镜。不少人劝我留守沙登，毕竟攻克马华前总会长黄家定的选区比蝉联沙登要难上许多。很多人也劝说，为什么非要我去？别人去不行吗？
我能够义无反顾的移师，林吉祥是最主要的原因。对我而言，当年72岁的老大都可以放弃安全区，32岁的我凭什么说不？
我不否认，能够被委派到大选前线州，和林吉祥一起并肩作战，我的内心其实还拥有些许的自豪感。没有三两三，也不会被选中站在这位政治巨人身边吧？
我从政的过程十分匆促。2008年一月三十日入党，二月被委任当后选人，三月八号中选国会议员。其代价就是，政治这个我完全不了解的生态，对我的个人生活、情绪，都带来了巨大的冲击，甚至萌生退意。
跟随在林吉祥身边学习，让我寻获解答。
还记得有一次，我被人事纠纷所困扰。与国阵争锋相对那我是斗志高昂，可是和自己人周旋，却让我烦不胜烦。
就在一晚，我和老大在一场活动后与该州州级领袖一起坐下来吃夜宵。老大在言谈间示意州领袖们要把该州的人事斗争处理好。
“我希望自己能够常来走动，可是我每次来都被记者追问你们的事，让我很烦。我来这里是要来处理攸关国家前途的大事，为什么要被这些人事小事转移焦点？”（大意）。
老大的这番话虽然不是说给我听，却让我有醍醐灌顶之感。对啊！如果改朝换代是我的追求，那么为什么要让一些无关痛痒的小事改变了我的志向？从此，每当我因为某些政治工作上的插曲而情绪低落，老大的这番话就成为了我救赎。
林吉祥50年的政治工作有赞有弹。他的政治判断和决定当然不可能每次都对， 可是，有时看到一些文章指责老大玩弄权术，我都只能说，或许这就是所谓的“燕雀安知鸿鹄之志”。
老大，生日快乐！感谢您为这个国家的付出，我们这些后辈唯愿可以一直跟随在您的身侧，向您学习。
